a moment and consider the changes you might like to manifest in the year ahead, and why.  If a healthier lifestyle is part of your vision for 2024, let us help you get started.

5 tips to transform your health in the New Year:

1. Change your framework: If this time last year you were on the cabbage soup diet, you already know that dieting is a miserable quick fix, at best.  A healthy lifestyle involves eating a nutrient-dense diet that you enjoy, and that isn’t punishing. A healthy lifestyle involves eating a nutrient-dense diet that you enjoy, and that isn’t punishing. Rather than launching into an unsustainable diet until your willpower runs dry, think about sustainable changes that will benefit your overall health, and that are also enjoyable. 2. Balance your plate:  Did you know that half your plate should filled with vegetables or fruit?  Vegetables and fruit are loaded with health promoting antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, and are high in fibre. Lean toward vegetables over fruit to keep the sugar content low, and boost your vitamin C during cold season by adding produce like bell peppers, tomatoes, broccoli and citrus to your plate. Did you know that half your plate should filled with vegetables or fruit?  Vegetables and fruit are loaded with health promoting antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, and are high in fibre.  Lean toward vegetables over fruit to keep the sugar content low, and boost your vitamin c during cold season by adding produce like bell peppers, tomatoes, broccoli and citrus to your plate.

3. Snack SelectivelySnacks can give us a nutritious energy boost, but if you don’t plan ahead, chances are you’ll be chowing down on high sugar, high fat choices instead.  For a snack that keeps you satisfied, aim to combine protein and fibre. Some of our favourites include hummus and veggies, cucumber and tzatziki, hardboiled eggs and tomato slices, and edamame.  If you tend to find yourself constantly seeking snacks, make sure you are getting enough protein in your meals to help keep you satisfied.
