Mental Health 101
This Training Experience Will Explore:
- The Mental Health Continuum model;
- Factors that positively or negatively impact mental health;
- Common mental health challenges and how to recognize their signs;
- Barriers that prevent seeking help (e.g. stigma);
- Practical strategies to improve mental health and well-being;
- Types of support available and how to choose the most helpful solution.
How To Be A Psychologically Safe Leader
The goal of this workshop is to increase knowledge, comfort and ability in recognizing and managing issues related to mental health in the workplace.
This Training Experience Will Explore:
- Your mental health and well-being culture;
- Positive mental health and well-being practices in your workplace;
- Ways to recognize and respond supportively to employees with a suspected mental health and/or well-being issues;
- How to create a positive and supportive work environment to facilitate successful return to work for employees with mental health and well-being issues; and
- Managing your own emotional reactions, building resilience.
Mental Health in Motion Inside the Workplace
A 45-minute lecture with visuals. At the end of this workshop, participants should be able to implement a culture of Stress Management and Self Care in the Workplace, prepare teams and supporting managers for an individual's return to work after mental illness and understanding employee accountability in the recovery. Participants will explore personality traits inside the working environment and their relationship to mental health.

A 45-minute lecture with visuals. At the end of this workshop, participants should understand the differences in signs and symptoms of mental illnesses in the workplace and correlations of co morbid factors, understand the impact of sleep hygiene, and learn community resources and supporting within your means.

Supportive Leadership and Language Essentials for Mental Health in the Workplace
A 45-minute lecture with visuals. At the end of this workshop, participants should recognize behavior changes learn and how to engage and support colleagues with a potential mental health issue, understand the appropriate, de-stigmatizing language surrounding mental health, learn and apply the "Rule Out Rule" to performance management with mental health, and understand the Stages of Change Model as it relates to individuals with mental illness.

The Business Case for a Psychologically Safe Workplace
A 45-minute lecture with visuals. At the end of this workshop, participants should understand the Mental Health Commission of Canada's National Standard for Psychological Health & Safety in the Workplace Best Practices, learn the 13 Psycho-Social Workplace Factors contributing to mental health in the workplace, gain tools to understanding the current state of PH&S in the workplace, and learn how to implement and measure mental health strategies in the workplace to improve the bottom line.

Workshops For People Managers
Psychological Health and Safety: It Matters
In our workplaces there is often a strong value of providing physical safety, but what about our psychological safety? In this 75-minute presentation, we will define what is psychological health and safety and gain better understanding of how it fits within a workplace.
Organizational impacts will be outlined while exploring the CSA National Standards to lead us to a place of understanding the factors that promote and undermine psychological health and safety. This training is a great way to introduce further training topics, giving individuals a basis of knowledge before diving a bit deeper.

Supportive Management and Mental Health
Effectively supporting an individual is a very important management skill. Often performance management only focuses on the negative or the problems, but this can be draining and cause conflict between staff. Supporting individuals by focusing on solutions has shown to contribute to an employee’s well-being. In this session we will explore different strategies to help you build your workplace plan to address when there has been a change in employee performance.
Management, supervisors, and leaders will gain a heightened appreciation and awareness for mental health issues in the workplace by taking a closer look at anxiety, depression, and substance use. The importance of early intervention will also be discussed and how the short-term discomfort with starting a conversation is much better than long term dysfunction.

Tough Talks: Practical Applications to a Difficult Conversation
With the statistics on many individuals are affected by mental health problems (1 in 4), there is a good chance that we may have to engage in a tough conversation with an employee. The reason these conversations are considered tough is because often we don’t know what to say, how to say it, or feel equipped with the right tools to produce a successful outcome.
In this sought-after session we will look at specific steps to formulate a conversation with an individual who may be experiencing mental health concerns. You will gain an understanding of the preparation process, what to include in your conversation, and the importance of follow-up. You will leave the room with solution-focused techniques to help you feel successful and confident when engaging in a difficult conversation.
