Supportive Management and Mental Health

Effectively supporting an individual is a very important management skill. Often performance management only focuses on the negative or the problems, but this can be draining and cause conflict between staff. Supporting individuals by focusing on solutions has shown to contribute to an employee’s well-being. In this session we will explore different strategies to help you build your workplace plan to address when there has been a change in employee performance.

Management, supervisors, and leaders will gain a heightened appreciation and awareness for mental health issues in the workplace by taking a closer look at anxiety, depression, and substance use. The importance of early intervention will also be discussed and how the short-term discomfort with starting a conversation is much better than long term dysfunction.
